THE ROLE
The role as Bottling line lead will cover the areas below. Your time will be taken up substantially in the day-to-day operations of bottling and may include fermentation and filtration.
Your unique and critical responsibilities will be in bottling (becoming the champion/expert in the business) and may include elements of engineering if time allows (ensuring day to day operation and maintenance of equipment).
Bottling
Become the internal expert in the operation and maintenance of the bottling line.
Alternate between the role of shift supervisor or shift support on the bottling line to spread the load between the team and as the needs of production require.
Follow the REAL Drinks Bottling SOP exactly and diligently.
Follow health and safety requirements exactly, ensure cleanliness at all times.
Understand the potential areas of risk in bottling and mitigation against these risks
Work alongside others in the operations team to deliver this effectively
Analyse the performance of the bottling line and suggest ways in which the efficiency of bottling can be improved.
Work with the Technical Director and Technical Fermenter to make operational improvements, to update SOPs and train the team as appropriate.
Fermentation & Filtration
Conducting day-to-day fermentations as resources require
Follow health and safety requirements exactly, ensure cleanliness at all times.
Understand the potential areas of risk in Fermentation & Filtration and mitigation against these risks
Conducting day-to-day filtration as resources require
Becoming expert in the unique Fermentation & Filtration process
Follow the REAL Drinks Fermentation & Filtration SOP exactly and diligently
Work alongside others in the operations team to deliver this effectively
Engineering
Ensuring that all equipment in the Boiler House, Fermentation, Filtration and Bottling areas is serviced, maintained and operating correctly.
Becoming comfortable with the operation of all key pieces of equipment. Including boilers, chillers, pumps, centrifuge, tanks, control systems, bottling line etc.
Performing daily, weekly and adhoc (as-used) checks on all key equipment
Checking correct operation of equipment
Completing daily, weekly and pre-use records
Performing general repairs and maintenance on all key pieces of equipment when required.
Setting up service contracts for all key pieces of equipment, maintaining relationships with these service providers, and ensuring that servicing happens at the appropriate time.
Training the team on the correct operation of all key pieces of equipment to ensure that they use them correctly, that they notice when they are not operating properly and appropriately raise maintenance concerns.
Managing the workshop: ensuring that the workshop is clean, tidy and well organised and maintaining all tools in good working order
Monitoring tool log-out and log-in to ensure tools are returned in good working order.
REAL are a small and very hands-on team so you may be asked to get involved in a variety of other activities depending upon your energy and skill set.
Working hours are 5 days a week from 8:30 - 17:30. The role will be based at The Fermentery at the Bail, Waddesdon estate, Waddesdon Hill, Aylesbury, HP18 0NH.
